If you're Hungary (geddit?) to uncover your new favourite wine region, it's time to meet the Hungarian Hot List – three wines from three of Hungary's most exciting producers, highlighting some of the best that the country's winemaking regions have to offer.

These producers and their wines are spearheading the truly innovative winemaking taking place in Hungary today – get your hands on them to feel the magic for yourself.

Grand Vin de Barnag, Diszko 2021 – 100% Furmint coming from the small village of Barnag. Grapes are planted on predominantly limestone soils and farmed organically. Fresh, aromatic and textured, this is a cuvée that takes fun seriously, as its name might suggest. 

Kolònia 52, Plazma 2021 – A Furmint-based blend with the Furmit undergoing direct press, while the three other varietals go through four days of skin contact. Coming from the north shore of Lake Balaton, Central Europe's largest lake, where vines are planted on basalt soils and farmed organically. Precise, fresh and zingy, this wine is brimming with energy.

Franz Weninger, Rozsa Petsovits 2021 – This dark rosé, coming from Horitschon in Hungary, is one of our best sellers in our bar and shop, and for good reason. Syrah, Zweigelt and Pinot Noir are planted on gneiss, loam and limestone, respectively, and are all farmed biodynamically. Deep, floral aromatics mingle with dark cherry and spicy pepper notes to create a beautifully complex rosé.
