Ex Vero II 'S' 2017
With its recognisable label, Weingut Werlitsch has become a staple in many wine bars and restaurants around the world. One of the first few winemakers in his region Ewald Tscheppe converted to bio-dynamic farming in the early 2000s. With the distinct soil, the Opok, the wines gain an unmistakable depth. The light smokiness and herbaceous aromatics are found in all his wines, giving it a trademark style and complexity.
The Ex Vero II S is an wine which did not ferment as one might want. This particular barrel stopped its fermentation process with some residual sugar still left. Ewald decided to keep the barrel as is and bottle it off-dry. Giving this wine a slightly fruitier and sweeter touch.
