Blaufränksich from a small vineyard on the western side of the Jungenberg in Burgenland, Austria. The schist soils bring a dark red almost purple colour with strong notes of elderflower and black currants and zesty acidity with a slight effervescence to this wine. With fruit and acidity competing for the spotlight this a great companion for lamb based dishes and cured salty meats.
If you are a connoisseur of Austrian wines you will have come by the name Nittnaus at least once. A staple in winemaking from the Burgenland the father Hans Nittnaus has been a teacher to many of our own producers but also to his own family. Andreas and Martin have been making wine under their own labels for a couple of years and have now paired up with their Cousin Lydia and created a joint Family project to carry the name Nittnaus into a new area of winemaking.
